Una notte può accadere a Parigi che entri in un bar. Uno di quelli in cui il proprietario si chiama Monrad ed è astemio, perché è stato per troppi anni un “bevitore eccessivo” (cito). Uno di quelli in cui una birra costa ancora 3 euro, uno di quelli in cui incontri la gente piccola, che proprio astemia non è. Uno di quelli che non è segnato nelle mappe turistiche, ma magari è proprio dietro l’angolo, dove la vita di quartiere esiste ancora e Parigi ridiventa un paese.
Una notte in questo bar trovi il gestore del ristorante magrebino di fronte, tre studenti un po’ troppo giovani e puliti rispetto alla media degli avventori, un cagnolino non tanto lindo (lui il bon ton del posto lo conosce) che ha tanta voglia di rientrare a schiacciare un pisolino, la padrona che ti racconta che l’altra signora che non vedi da un po’ nel locale è appena tornata dalla Repubblica Ceca con una bella bambina in grembo. Suonati i quaranta, si sa, le banche del seme sono un’ottima opzione.
E poi incontri l’incontro della notte. Un uomo sui cinquanta, robusto, calvo, giubbotto di pelle, birra in mano, voce roca e un linguaggio che in un bar di Garbatella sarebbe un buon romano colorito.
Philippe è stato poliziotto della mondaine, intrigante incrocio tra narcotici e buoncostume. Usciva di notte, vestito in abito nero. L’autista lo accompagnava, poi aspettava fuori. Lui entrava nei night club più noti e più malfamati della città per tenere sott’occhio la malavita. A viso scoperto, tiene a precisare. Per scambiare due chiacchiere con i boss, carpire informazioni, ricordare al crimine organizzato che la polizia c’è e sa.
Oggi Philippe scrive per il cinema e per la televisione. La sua ultima sceneggiatura, nelle sale francesi in questi giorni, si intitola Une nuit, una notte. Road movie dai toni noir, è la storia di un poliziotto della mondaine che rischia di farsi incastrare dalla mafia parigina. In anni, che, dice Philippe, non torneranno più.
